Looks better than the nonsense thats getting built at the moment

Not that I can skate it anyway, but I would vote for an increase in street course material, rather than another quarter pipe configuration. That's the reason we see all these wee kids shredding but then not being able to kickflip. If we had some rad street stuff for folk to skate, A'deen would be a rad training camp for gnarlers of all ages.

woohoo more quarters, just what we need. did enjoy seeing a local "ripper" get of his board to cross the road cos he cant ollie up a curb but can boom out trannys. aint gonn get any Brezinskys outta here

When you look at it from the view of the folk who's job it is to run and build the park, with regards to what they have at their disposal, what is getting built is pretty good.

they have a point....banks, mannies, ledge combo...? i know there not much space but....

Just to let you know this isn't getting built, it is mearly a design I came up with months ago... A street section would be rad, but as Sam said the space is just to small. I put forward the idea of building portable ledges, manny pads, etc that could be taken out once a week meaning there would be a street session at night... kinda like the old Costco days; take the ramps out, set them up however you want, schralp, then tidy up! It's as street as you can really get without totally redesining the park.

Portable ledge idea is a banger if you ask me. I would also agree that this kind of design is good for the space as well as the fact that you are right about having to re-design a portion of the park, but I enjoy the fact that this corner is empty. Decent rail, decent grind box,and maybe even a bank against the wall to turn on could re-generate this space.

re-generate is the right word but its hard due to the unmoveabilty of most of the obstacles. wait and see how the "box seshs" go down. get what we have

These comments show that its a good idea to get more people involved in the initial ideas. How hard would it be the next time somethings getting built to rustle up a few concepts and get the public to vote on it...

Yes anonymous you're right it is best to get more people involved in the design process with various ideas.
And thats what joe did although some people who may have have posted scheme designs up here decided not to get involved and therefore put no design input, labour or money into the apparent 'nonsense'!! that is being built at the moment.
This is what has been requested by the current users of the park and thats what gets built, take note and maybe speak to Joe about ideas some time. The park is for all its users.
Its good for people to be involved in their local scene rather than commenting on it via a keyboard in a bedroom somewhere, this is skateboarding not high school, get involved.
Lets not get hung up on who fell out with who months ago (I'm sure that mentality should have been left in the playground) and maybe work together to help get the park scene strong again before the place is turned into an extension of the climbing wall!!

Shred til death, Oldo...

What gets built should be skateable for all users of the park.
Can't see many 10 year olds skating the new feature.
We need to remember that the kids are funding the park and also the future of the aberdeen scene.
Good luck kidos

The idea of a voting process is sick, and apparently this happened? Would it not have been a good idea to at least put that up on the Transition Blog? Just a bit of organisation if you ask me. But whatever, I haven't seen the new obstacle, only heard alot of hate going toward it, so maybe next time more of a conversation about whats a good idea. But for now, I guess be stoked that the park is constantly adding new things into the mix to keep it a little fresher. That can only be a good thing.

Oldo if you have any idea in skatepark design surely you should know not to build x-games style ramps in such a small space!!! Think Sippbarp...
As for the public consultation, I have spoke to a lot of skateboarders from Aberdeen and have heard nothing but negative feedback.
Maybe if something had been posted on the transiton blog people could have had they're say, but chat between a cliquey crew is not a democratic decision.

you cant please everyone all the time, but yes, "public consultation" would maybe have helped but in the end there is only a certain amount of space. but with that said build a "skatepark" for skaters and a bmx park for bmxers. anyone remember what happened to the warehouse off crown street when it got over run by men on kids bikes?
